Sharon K. Sobotta is a social justice and diversity educator, a writer and a journalist. Sharon is committed to advocating for populations who are often underserved or marginalized, while also creating intentional spaces for people to examine their own privilege and capacity to engage in allyship. In her Student Life role at Saint Mary's College of California, Sharon facilitates dialogues and programs that get to the heart of conflict with civility by helping community members recognize their commonalities and negotiate their differences in a respectful manner. As a jouranlist, Sharon is passionate about making the voices and narratives of people from all walks of life audible and visible. As a social justice reporter for KPFA, Sharon covers the robust #BlackLivesMatters movement, enviornmental racism, educational disparities, gentrification, access of the lgbtqia community to marriage and fair treatment and stories of undocumented youth and families, with the goal of putting untold stories on the forefront.
